Bikini Day!

It’s 4pm on a dreary Thursday at the office when an email comes through from Corporate to your inbox.  It reads:

Subject: Wear your bikini to work day!
Dear staff
Tomorrow we are holding a “wear your bikini to work” day to raise money for Comic Relief [or whatever other charity your workplace may support].  All staff MUST participate and make a minimum donation of £5 to the charity.

What do you do?!!!!

Now before you answer – I’d call in sick or plan meetings for that day I’m going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons and say you can’t do either of those things (it’s my game so I’m making up the rules haha!).
Chances are with those 2 options out of the picture most of you would go into sheer meltdown at the thought of having to bear skin in front of anyone let alone work colleagues.  At a guess I’d say the reason for said meltdown would be the fact that you’re not happy with your figure and given half the chance would love the body of Cheryl Cole/Rhianna/Cameron Diaz etc etc.
But have you taken action to go out there and get what you want??  You either haven’t OR the action you did take hasn’t worked for you (eg you might have joined a gym where the trainers didn’t really bother to keep you on track and subsequently you’ve lost interest OR you joined a slimming club and despite sticking to it like glue and eating their “healthy” low fat snacks, you haven’t managed to shift much weight).
NOW is the time to re-evaluate what you’ve done so far this year (or haven’t done as the case may be!) and face up to the fact that before you know it – summer will be here meaning those bodies will be on display!  You still have 3 months before the summer and holiday season kicks in which is more than enough time to make some RADICAL changes to your figure!
  1. Sort your diet out.  You’ve heard the saying “you are what you eat” right?  Think about it: you put crap processed food into your body, you’ll look and feel like crap.  Am I right?!  Start eating more nutritious meals and drinking more clean water – your energy levels pick up, your skin clears up and those unwanted pounds start disappearing!  Don’t touch anything processed or packaged, eat and cook fresh the majority of the time and you can’t go far wrong.
  2. Get some resistance!  Despite what some fitness “gurus” might tell you long steady state cardio is NOT the only way (nor is it the best way) to shift body fat.  Metabolic resistance training not only burns fat during the workouts but up to 48 hours after thanks to EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption or “afterburn” as it’s more commonly known)!  That means after your workout you’ll still be shedding body fat whilst your sat with your feet up!
  3. State your expectations. What do you expect to achieve – is it to get back into skinny jeans, slim down for your wedding dress – whatever it is you need to be crystal clear on exactly what it is you want.  If you skip this step it’s like getting in your car to go somewhere you’ve never been before and not programming the sat nav or planning the route – you’ll end up driving round in circles getting more and more frustrated!  Know where you’re starting from, exactly what you want to achieve (think of this step a bit like putting the postcode in the sat nav – you need to be that exact!), know when you want to get there and get moving!  A good goal would be: I want to slim down to a size 10 to fit back into my skinny jeans by May 1st 2011.
  4. Get 40 winks. Good quality sleep is not only essential for fat loss but overall health as well.  Whilst you sleep your body repairs and regenerates and many of your body’s organs are quietly at work (like your digestive system and liver).  If you’re not getting adequate rest your body can’t do this.  Cut out the caffeine (yep that’s right, ditch that morning coffee!), cut down on the tv/computer time before bed,  keep your stress levels down and enjoy a decent nights kip!
  5. Keep hydrated. When your body is the slightest bit dehydrated the last thing it wants to do is cooperate with you and drop body fat!  In fact it will do the exact opposite!  Make sure you drink 3 litres of clean water (not tap water or Brita filtered – that won’t clean it nearly enough!) every day to keep your hydration levels up and that fat burning going!

Operation B.I.T.C.H Winner!

You may or may not remember that on the last Fearless Female Bootcamp before Christmas we ran a body transformation contest called “Operation B.I.T.C.H”.  Well the photos are finally in, sorted and have been studied.  And the winner is…………………..

TRACY WILLIAMS!!!!!!

After finally sorting out the technical issues with getting the photos edited and put together (bloomin computers!) myself, Linda Muir (one of the Foxy Fitness Instructors) and Mark Tipping, the owner of York’s No 1 Bootcamp, Body-Fix Bootcamp set on the task of deciding which lucky lady deserved to win the body transformation contest.

We were blown away by Tracy’s photos and there was no doubt in our minds that she was the clear winner – Tracy worked her butt off for the entire 4 weeks not even letting the snow stop her from getting to class or attending the make up sessions.  Tracy’s “no excuses” attitude has clearly paid off with her incredible results – in just 4 weeks!!!  This was Tracy’s first bootcamp!

All Change For September!

It’s been a busy summer for us all here at Foxy Fitness but we are raring to go with the big “get in shape for Christmas” challenge! Are you??!!

We have lots of changes to our timetable starting from Monday 6th September as follows:

  • Our class at the Dance Studio Leeds is no longer running – apologies for those of you in Leeds who loved to Zumba – we are on the look out for more suitable and larger venues so if you know of any get in touch!
  • One of our new instructors, Louise (who you can read about here), starts her new Zumba class on Tuesday 7th September at Bentley Pavillion in Doncaster. It starts at 7pm and it would be awesome to see you there to have a boogie with Louise!
  • The second of our new instructors, Hannah (who you can read about here), relaunches an old aerobics class as a Foxy Fitness Zumba class on Monday 13th September at Monk Bretton (Silverdale) Community Centre. The class starts at 6:15pm and it would be great if you guys popped in to say hello to her and give her a warm welcome to the team!
  • Our latest programme, Fearless Female Bootcamp starts on 6th September where everyone is guaranteed to drop a dress size in 28 days or their money back – places have sold like hot cakes so the next bootcamp in October looks like its going to be a busy one – take action now to make sure you are looking fabulous by Christmas!
